1st Way is registered as a 501C(3) non-profit organization and funded entirely by individual donations and charitable grants. 1st Way has been serving the Phoenix community for over 30 years.
             
 Volunteers provide services specific to the life circumstances of each individual woman. These services may include education and support, information, referrals, and counseling.  For example, an unmarried person may be encouraged to consider abstinence and given important information about chastity.  For married persons who are unprepared for a pregnancy the discussion may be about Natural Family Planning.
           
During pregnancy and afterward, we continue to educate and assist these women in whatever way is needed to support their decision to choose a better way of life.  We educate pregnant women about pre-natal care and assist them in finding jobs and planning for their futures by gently helping them objectively and realistically explore their options.
           
When a woman is abortion-minded, we explore her reasons for wanting an abortion. These reasons sometimes disappear in the face of the facts regarding fetal development, health issues, medical and financial assistance, housing alternatives, adoption assistance, and other available services
           
Questions about the dangers of various artificial birth control methods and sexually-transmitted diseases are always answered with the facts. Whenever possible, we offer personal follow up on positive lifestyle changes or provide referrals to helpful programs and support groups.   
           
We at 1st Way are committed to keeping the office open as many hours as possible from Monday through Saturday.  We find that the more hours we are open, the more women we serve.  The need for our services seems unlimited.
